Kristen Prata Browde is an attorney based in Chappaqua, New York, who works to develop creative solutions to the problems facing individuals and corporations. “I try to bring a practical approach to the issues facing clients.” she says, “Particularly in divorce cases, emotions run high. Dealing with the emotions is important, but it’s every bit as important to remember the goal: getting through the divorce process with your dignity and your finances intact. If there are children involved, one has to be even more sensitive to the problems, and the creative solutions that are critical to helping a client through this very difficult time in their lives.”
Kristen is a graduate of Fordham University Law School, where she also served as Writing and Research editor of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal.
Kristen holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University (B.A., Government & Philosophy – 1972).
She has written on a variety of legal topics, including First Amendment issues, authoring “Warning: Wearing Eyeglasses May Subject You to Additional Liability and other Foibles of Post-Diana Newsgathering – An Analysis of California’s Civil Code Section 1708.8” 10 Fordham Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal 697 (2000). She has also written on a variety of topics for American Lawyer Media’s publications. (These articles were written under her former name.)
She is a Trustee of the AFTRA Health and Retirement Funds and a member of the Chappaqua Central School District Financial Advisory Committee. She resigned as Secretary of the Town of New Castle New York Board of Ethics in order to run for office. That campaign ended November 7, 2017, with the incumbent narrowly retaining his position.
